Privacy Policy

This document describes privacy practices specific to ymiLIVE and www.ymiLIVE.org. To understand how we treat personal information gathered on other Presbyterian Foundation web sites, or other parts of this site, you should read the Presbyterian Foundation Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

  • Registration Information. You must have an account to participate in certain activities on the ymiLIVE site – like uploading videos, posting comments, flagging videos, or voting for videos. We ask for some personal information when you create an account, including your name and email address.
  • Usage Information. Whether you register or not, we may collect information about you when you use the ymiLIVE site, including the pages you visit, the group(s) you are a member of, the other users you communicate with, the videos you watch, and the frequency and size of data transfers, as well as information you display or click on in the ymiLIVE site (including UI elements, settings, and other information). If you are logged in, we may associate that information with your account. We may set a "cookie" on your hard drive, which is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie allows us to recognize your browser. Cookies may store user preferences and other information. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some website features or services may not function properly without cookies. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. “Web Beacons”) in HTML-based emails we send in order to know whether or not you have opened the message.

How Your Information Is Used

  • We use your personal information to provide you with the general and personalized features and functionality of the ymiLIVE site, improve the site, enhance your and other users’ experience, and communicate with you on subjects of interest to Presbyterian youth. Your personal information is also used for internal administrative purposes such as site maintenance, and to process any flagging activity or correspondence you send to us. If you are under thirteen, we may use your personal information to communicate with your parents about your use of the site.
  • Your userID (but not your email address) is displayed to other Users when you upload videos or send messages through the ymiLIVE site. This will enable other Users to contact you through messages and comments.
  • Any videos that you submit to the ymiLIVE site may be redistributed through the Internet and other media channels, and may be viewed by the general public.
  • We do not use your email address or other personally identifiable information to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. We may, however, use your email address to communicate with you for other reasons (such as notifying you of major ymiLIVE site changes or for customer service purposes).
  • We may use cookies, clear gifs, and log file information to: (a) store information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit; (b) provide custom, personalized content and information; (c) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc.; and (d) track your entries, submissions, and status in contests, promotions, or sweepstakes.
  • We do not share your personal information with third parties other than our service providers or affiliates unless you consent or as permitted or required by law.

Children’s Information

  • We recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of children online, and we recommend that all minors ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet. More information for children and parents about privacy measures for children is available from the FTC here.
  • We require any child under the age of 13 to provide contact information for a parent or legal guardian, either directly or through a Group Leader. We use that contact information to notify the parent or guardian and give them the opportunity to tell us that they do not want you to participate in the ymiLIVE site.

Your Choices

  • Any personal information or video content that you voluntarily disclose online (on discussion boards, in messages and chat areas, within your playback or profile pages, etc.) becomes publicly available and can be collected and used by others.
  • If you don’t register to use the ymiLIVE site, you may decline to submit any personally identifiable information (other than usage-related information collected as described above). In that case, you can still view videos and explore the ymiLIVE site, but we may not be able to provide certain services to you.
  • You may update or correct your personal profile information and email preferences at any time by visiting your account profile page.
If you have additional questions about this policy or the privacy of your information, please contact us at any time by sending an email to director@ymilive.org.
